Every Breastfeeding Mama Needs One Of These!

When I was pregnant with my first son (who is now four) this natural Mama was searching constantly looking for everything she needed or "thought" she needed, for this new baby..... Well let's just say, this silicone breast "pump" I'm going to share with you today, I WISH I had stumbled upon it with him! (It wasn't until I was pregnant with my second son, that I learned of it)...

So I remember with my first son, who, we'll just say "was a breastfeeding champ"... I'd be breastfeeding what felt like constantly, and I remember especially those first weeks, when he'd nurse, my opposite breast would just leak and leak and both would leak when he wasn't nursing...  I mainly wore old white tees and a couple cotton gowns my mama got me at the Goodwill. Yes I kinda looked like my grandma lol but hey, when you've just had a baby, you don't care- comfort is key! 😉 and I'm one who hates bras, so the thought of constantly having a bra on with a nursing pad just made me cringe. So I'll just say, A LOT of precious "liquid gold" was wasted early on!

Stumbling upon this silicone breast "pump" on Amazon, before having my second son, something I figured "ok I'll buy it but probably hardly use" turned into something that can't be out of my sight haha! It's been called in our home, "the boob thing" "milk collector" etc. and has been part of many discussions in our household lol. (Just ask my hubby and four year old!)

From day one with my second son, I started using it. I would always put it on the opposite breast, and not only did it collect a TON of milk, BUT, a huge perk, was it would help with engorgement problems...you know, when you want the baby to nurse and relieve it, but it doesn't happen like that haha. It's all "on baby's timing".... (and no mama wants Mastitis!- thankful I always prevented getting it phew!)

So this time, Mama didn't have to sit around with breast milk soaked shirts (no gowns this time haha!) anymore woohoo! And I even started saving all that milk in the freezer...in which I never needed to use, because being a SAHM and always nursing on demand. But what I was able to do, which was awesome, was bless another Mama in need, with all that milk for her newborn! That made my heart happy. I know how AMAZING breast milk is, and so there was no way I was going to just throw it all away.

This $10-$15 silicone breast "pump", in which I ended up buying two, has been a lifesaver and a breastfeeding NEED and I have to tell every breastfeeding Mama to get one!!!!! I mean, one is always in the diaper bag for on the go, and it's been used every time we go out and about, while I'm nursing BUT also was wonderful on our recent longggg road trip to beautiful Gulf Shores! When you're extra engorged, can suction one on EACH breast and it'll help relief it some so you're more comfortable.

It doesn't hurt. It's not uncomfortable. You don't literally have to sit and hand pump it. Yes,  sometimes you can kinda "pump" a few to help get it going, but really just squeeze and suction it on! Good to go.

If you plan to breastfeed (which I hope you are 😊) you HAVE GOT TO BUY ONE OF THESE!   You can thank me later 😉

A few other must haves while breastfeeding were:

Breast milk storage bags (like these)
Organic nipple ointment (love this one or this one)
TriLight Health's Mastitix - (Mastitis Support, Midwife
  Approved) trilighthealth.com
Washable Organic cotton breast pads (like these)

My first son breastfed till he was 2 years and 7 months, and only quit because I was prego with the second and I dried up and didn't want even a feather touching my poor sensitive nipples haha....My second son is still nursing at 15 months 😊

Breastfeeding isn't always easy, but it's worth it! It's a sacrific to give the best of the best to our precious babies....always reach out to a lactation consultant, for they are WORTH the money! I was blessed to have the top one in the state, in which I am so grateful for!

Go Mamas! Here's to no more soaked t-shirts (or gowns)!!! 😂
